Early Mount Lebanon Shaker Transitional Number 1 Rocking Chair

Early Mount Lebanon Transitional Shaker No. 1 Rocking Chair.  Circa Early 19thC.  Original black paint.  Acorn finials.  The delicate curvilinear arms identify this chair as one of the three types of "transitional" chairs produced by the Shakers as their chair manufacturing moved to the more fully machine produced "Wagan Standard".  Arms finished with mushroom caps.  Vase turning on front posts.  Three back slats with topmost embossed with a "1".  Original wool taped seat in diamond pattern. This chair pre-dates the use of Shaker decals and cost approximately $8.00 when new!
